The Ophthalmology Department at Egyptair Hospital plays a pivotal role in serving our community, catering to an average of 150 patients daily. Our mission is to enhance eye healthcare in Egypt by reducing preventable blindness and achieving optimal patient outcomes through education, research, and collaboration.

Modernizing Eye Care
Our Ophthalmology Department underwent extensive renovations beginning in 2010 to align with the latest advancements in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery. We have invested in state-of-the-art examination techniques, diagnostic devices, and surgical equipment.
Specialized Units:
1. Leading Investigation Unit: Equipped with cutting-edge technology.
2. Vitreo-Retinal and Laser Unit: Including Argon and YAG lasers.
3. Cornea and Refractive Unit: Focused on correcting vision.
4. Oculoplastic Unit: Addressing cosmetic and functional eye concerns.
5. Pediatric and Strabismus Unit: Catering to young patients.
Clinics and Examination Units
Our Ophthalmology Department houses six clinics, attending to approximately 500 patients per week. Four clinics operate within the main hospital, serving both general and specialized needs with morning and afternoon sessions. Additionally, there are two general ophthalmology clinics located at Cairo International Airport.
Each clinic is equipped with essential ophthalmological examination tools, including slit lamps, tonometry instruments, and diagnostic devices. We also have a dedicated camera system in one clinic for recording and educational purposes.
Advanced Diagnostic Facilities
Our Investigative Unit, located in the main hospital, offers a wide range of diagnostic capabilities:
• Ultrasound and Optical Biometry
• B-Scan
• Specular Microscopy
• OCT (Anterior Segment and OCT Angiography)
• Fluorescein Angiography
• Perimetry (Octopus and Humphrey)
• Refractive Unit (Pentacam and iDesign for corneal topography and aberrometry)
State-of-the-Art Operating Theatres
Our two dedicated operating rooms (capsules) exclusively serve ophthalmology procedures. We also have a specialized day case and refractive suite operating five days a week, handling anterior and posterior segment surgeries, cornea and refractive procedures, and oculoplastic surgeries. These theatres are fully equipped with phaco/vitrectomy machines, surgical microscopes, and advanced laser equipment.
Our commitment to providing cutting-edge eye care extends to innovative technologies such as the Catalys Femto-Cataract machine, ensuring high-precision cataract surgeries with excellent visual outcomes.
