On World Cancer Day, EGYPTAIR Hospital organizes a medical and educational seminar to raise awareness for employees of the holding company and its subsidiaries

Under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Salah, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EGYPTAIR Medical Services Company, EGYPTAIR Hospital provides many services and medical care to colleagues in all hospital clinics, the airport and the administrative complex. In this context, the General Administration of Advertising and Media at EGYPTAIR Holding Company, in cooperation with EGYPTAIR Medical Services Company, organized an educational seminar on the occasion of World Cancer Day at the administrative building of EGYPTAIR under the supervision of Dr. Najah Saleh (Head of the Oncology Department at EGYPTAIR Hospital), where she managed the seminar and began with an introductory introduction to tumors and the causes and risk factors leading to the disease, including unhealthy eating habits, lack of exercise, obesity and smoking. Dr. Phoebe Samir (Oncology Consultant at EGYPTAIR Hospital) completed the talk to raise awareness about breast cancer, where she explained that it is the most common type of cancer, and she also pointed out its causes, including genetic mutations, hormones and other risk factors that play a role in infection. And that its occurrence is always linked to damage to the DNA cell, and she continued the talk by explaining the stages of breast cancer and the importance of examination and early detection of the disease through self-examination of the breast or awareness of the nature of the breast, and she also indicated that the clinical examination of the breast should be done annually starting from the age of 40 years and above and she advises doing it every three years from the age of 20 years and above, and regular mammograms every two years starting from the age of 40 years, and she explained the methods of prevention including: breastfeeding, continuous exercise, avoiding hormones as much as possible, quitting smoking and following a healthy diet, and Dr. Ghada Yahya Zakaria (oncology consultant at EGYPTAIR Hospital) continued the talk to correct misconceptions about tumors, including that there is no conclusive evidence that a needle biopsy, which is a procedure used to diagnose many types of cancer, leads to the spread of cancer cells in the body, but there are exceptions that doctors and surgeons know about and no results have appeared that say that eating sugar makes cancer worse, but excessive sugar consumption in general increases the likelihood of weight gain and obesity, which are factors that contribute to cancer. At the end of the symposium, the questions of the attending colleagues were answered.
