The Infection Control Department participated in the activities of the third medical conference of EGYPTAIR Hospital. Dr. Hesham El-Sharkawy, Director of the Infection Control Department, spoke about the unexpected benefits of the COVID-19 pandemic. He noted that despite the suffering the entire world has endured from this pandemic, there have been some positives in the field of infection control and hospital infrastructure. The team celebrated World Handwashing Day, where Dr. Zamzam Sotouhi emphasized the importance of celebrating World Handwashing Day and its importance in combating infection control in hospitals, given its critical importance in combating antibiotic-resistant microbes. Dr. Engy Ali also spoke about the awareness campaigns on hand hygiene and disinfection held internationally and regionally, as well as EGYPTAIR Hospitals awareness campaigns for patients, visitors, and school children. Colleague Heba Morsi added that hand hygiene must be observed and implemented to perfection, emphasizing the importance of the five moments of hand hygiene. Professor Abdo Hassanein then spoke about the challenges and obstacles that must be overcome and ways to achieve the desired global standards.
